director's notes
director's notes
XERME is a project that has been with me for more than seven years. Over time, it has grown with me, transforming itself as everything that is alive and in motion does. Visually, it is constructed from the minimal: black and white as a base, because that is where I have always felt most comfortable as an artist. Colour is removed so that only the essential remains. And the only tone that persists, yellow, is what signals the vital: energy, movement and orientation.
That colour represents energy, the vital flow that runs through the characters and the game world itself. XERME speaks of cycles, of transformations, of how nothing exists in isolation or arises from nothing. Everything is inherited, exchanged or transformed. Just as in science, where we advance on the shoulders of those who came before us, in Germen each player advances thanks to the efforts of others, picking up their footsteps and leaving their own.
XERME is, in short, a seed. A reflection on the collective, on legacy, on the energy that flows between us and connects us to our environment.
